If it were up to me I would number Unit and Channel both Left to Right.īut as I said in your previous post, this is about forming habits. I don't know the logic behind that, and as a ME it's always driven me a little batty. Channel numbers, however, always go Left to Right. The Unit numbers on each position increase from Right to Left, as you have done here. [Edit #2: I didn't notice this before, and it's a strange note for me to give but here goes. The convention I'm used to is the Channel is inside a Circle, Dimmer (if on the plot at all) is inside a Hexagon. But if you want to specify the dimmers for some reason, make some distinction between Channel and Dimmer number. Let the ME do that part of the job for you. But now imagine it with 4 times as many lights, and possibly accessories like Top Hats or Barn Doors. It can get cluttered fast.Īlso, as designer I wouldn't put the dimmer info on there. It's about maximum information with minimum clutter.ĭon't take that the wrong way, your plot looks nice.

Now channel your Warm Lekos 101, 102, 103.And the next row US 111, 112, 113.See the pattern I'm going for? Cool Lekos could start in the 200s, Wash lights in the 300s, etc. Then one row upstage is 11-16, then 21-26. As an example:Īlong the proscenium line, your focus areas could be numbered 1-6 SR to SL. What I do see often is the channel number relating to the focus area. Focus areas may be laid out, but not a focus mark for each light.

I remember it being common in school, but in a professional setting I never see focus info on the plot.
